These are the two pictures that we received with our referral on Nov 30, 2006. Her Chinese name is FENG Chao Ran ( Feng - pronounced fung- is the last name given to all the babies received into her orphanage in 2006, Chao is the first name after her city meaning "nest", and Ran is a poetic name describing leaves gently falling from a plum tree so is taken to mean gently or tenderly). We will name her Emma (at least that is what we think - but not yet 100% decided). She is waiting for her forever family in ChaoHu City, Anhui Province, PRChina. We will finally have her in our arms January 22nd. YIPPEE!!!
I am not a big writer but thought our friends and family might enjoy following the most exciting part of our adoption journey. On January 15th we will leave Los Angeles for Beijing, China. And one week later, we will receive our little Emma and our arms. This is going to be a crazy week for us as we go shopping, pack our bags, weigh our bags, unpack our bags, pack and weigh again. The size and weight limits for luggage within China are very restrictive and any overages are very expensive. For someone who likes to pack for every eventuality this will be a difficult task. Someone in our agency suggested that you lay out everything you want to take and then cut in half. I'm sure that advice applies to me!! I'll let you know how works out.
The Dogs are getting ready to go to Grammie and Papa's house. The frogs and the tortoise will be cared for by our friends.
We have waited so long for this week to come it is hard to believe it's finally here.In fact, it is almost surreal. We are excited and nervous and busy and...so much more.
Thank you to all who have loved and helped us on this great journey.
